HealthcareWorks is a consortium of 13 health care employers, 5 community colleges, and organized labor organizations.

 

It was created by four Eastern Massachusetts workforce boards:

Metro South/West Regional Employment Board—Lead Partner

Merrimack Valley Workforce Investment Board

Greater Lowell Workforce Investment Board

North Shore Workforce Investment Board

 

The workforce boards connect health care facilities with community colleges to create workplace education programs for low-wage, front-line workers.

 

Career coaches and mentors from the health care industry support upward mobility and increased earnings of low-wage workers by:

• Clarifying career paths in the health care industry
• Providing life/work support
• Providing access to financial aid in post-secondary nursing and allied health programs
