Through years of investment in school-to-career programs, Massachusetts has a strong infrastructure in place to reach thousands of students.

Workforce Investment Board STEM Collaborative

Seven Workforce Investment Boards (WIB) have joined together to create a statewide infrastructure focused on placing high school students in paid STEM internships.

Boston Private Industry Council

Franklin/Hampshire Workforce Investment Board

Greater New Bedford Workforce Investment Board

Regional Employment Board of Hampden County, Inc.

Metro North Regional Employment Board

To maximize participation, the Collaborative also includes Boston Area Advanced Technological Education Center (BATEC), an NSF-funded non-profit organization.

This workforce investment board network has developed strong relationships with schools, non-profits, businesses, industry associations, and universities throughout the state as part of their intermediary function with ongoing programs such as Connecting Activities and Youth Councils.

 

By leveraging this statewide network of workforce development professionals and their school partners, companies will be able to:

 

  • Find quality interns
  • Build relationships with their local schools
  • Participate in a well-structured program that includes a Work Based Learning Plan for each student
  • Help increase student interest, awareness, and motivation in STEM
    post-secondary majors and careers
