Role of The Technology Initiative:

Workforce Intermediary, Catalyst for Change, Resource for STEM Information

The Technology Initiative is uniquely positioned to provide a multi-dimensional, systems approach to increasing K-12 student academic preparation, awareness, interest, and motivation for pursuing postsecondary majors and careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM).

Our work recognizes that there can be no hope of increasing the STEM pipeline without increasing the diversity of the STEM pipeline.

Research and Evaluation are integral to our philosophy of operation:

  • Research informing program development and identification of promising practices
  • Evaluation for longitudinal tracking and continuous program improvement

Workforce Intermediary:

  • Evaluates education/workforce research and incorporates findings into STEM programs
  • Applies "industry sector" depth of knowledge to develop business partnerships
  • Reviews surveys and reports to identify current and future business employment needs
  • Provides infrastructure for sustaining long-term, multi-sector, collaborative relationships

Catalyst for Change

We use a systems approach to engage multiple partners to support and actively participate in meaningful, measurable, and scalable programs that will help increase the STEM student pipeline.

Resource for STEM Information

The Technology Initiative is developing as an online clearinghouse of important research, reports, programs, and information about STEM and the looming pipeline challenge. These materials are of interest and importance to K-12 educators, students, parents, business, community, and education leaders, and policy makers.
